Keyclad
Keyclad. Experts in External Envelope Solutions.
Building On Experience
Throughout the last decade, facade systems have
become increasingley sophisticated to meet an ever emerging stream of
aesthetic and performance requirements. Seamless integration of the total
building envelope, to budget, and often within demanding timescales, has
become fundamental to the success of the project.
During this process of evolution, Keyclad has proved its worth as one
of the most professional and respected facade specialists in the industry.
"The commitment to client satisfaction and the
pursuit of excellence is our way of life" J N Kirkland OBE
An Integrated Approach
Our in-depth knowledge of facade and roofing systems
is complemented, perhaps uniquely, by our ability to undertake a range
of related services, including secondary steelwork, ventilation, windows
and entrance systems.
This integrated approach to the construction process has enhanced the
programme, budget and build quality on many prestigious projects including
the £16 million Bolton Arena, a new headquarters building for Nokia
and The Cornerhouse Leisure and Retail Complex, Nottingham.
The £16 million development sets new standards
in modern tennis facilities. Keyclad installed on the arena what is thought
to beone of the largest single span standing seam roofs in the country.
Spanning single continuous lengths of some 124 metres, Keybemo aluminium
standing seam roofing was site rolled at eaves level.
As part of the total envelope package, Keyclad fabricated and installed
gutters, bullnose flashings and louvres. To accommodate the oval shape
of the building, a faceted detail was incorporated into the standard Kingspan
Micro-Rib composite panel system, maintaining the flat panel appearance
across the horizontal and vertical.
Excellence Through Partnership
To ensure technical and performance requirements
are realised fully, an in-house team of experienced design engineers work
in partnership with clients on both standard systems and bespoke project
solutions. Sophisticated CAD design detailing is undertaken to ensure
the optimum performance of every element of the building envelope.
Keyclad's design engineers and project managers enter into partnership
agreements with selected key manufacturers. They in turn, provide comprehensive
product quality assurances, guaranteed delivery schedules, and provide
full technical and development support - factors that are fundamental
to the contract programme and operational performance of the building.
Situated on Forman Street, one of Nottingham's
busiest shopping areas, the £2 million contract demonstrates Keyclad's
ability to integrate a range of elevational treatments. Kawneer lattice
work feature glazing, black perforated aluminium screens, wall panelling
and a drum shaped corner entrance feature provide striking visual treatments
to the facade.
Column casings, flashings and soffits, together with eight curved Keybemo
standing seam roofs totalling 6,000 square metres, complete the envelope
package.
Building With Advanced Technology
Keyclad has developed a range of technical solutions
to allow the integration of virtually any combination of facade and roofing
design requirements, including curtain walling, structural glazing, rainscreens,
composite panels and proprietary roofing systems, along with doors, windows
and louvres.
Colours, materials and finishes can be selected to meet the most exacting
performance and design criteria such as fire rated and non-combustible
cladding, specialist insulation, acoustic and anti-vandal material.
Undertaken by Keyclad as a fastrack project, the
works included refurbishment and renewal to the roofs and walls of the
East and West stands, three feature stair towers clad in contrasting Terracotta
and merlin Grey PVF2 panels, together with modifications to the South
stand to extend the roof light areas.
luxalon composite panels were integrated with
existing curtain walling to the main entrance and Megastore areas. The
panels, powder coated in Goosewing Grey, provide a durable, architecturally
flat facade requiring minimum maintenance.
The cladding package of £1.2 million was completed to budget, ready
for the start of the new season.
Setting & Maintaining Standards
Committed to 'Best Practice', Keyclad's team of
experienced installers undertakes regular in-house training. In addition,
each member of the team receives on-going training from key manufacturers
to ensure total familiarity with the latest product innovations.
All construction - including on-site fabrication, installation and co-ordination
with other trades and the Main Contractor - is supervised by dedicated
Site Managers.
Specified for speed of installation, Kingspan's
RW1000 composite panels were installed to the wall areas of the 300,000
sq ft warehouse and administration facility. Achieving an exceptionally
low U value of 0.23, potential heat loss was addressed with the extended
use of RW1000 to all roof areas. Curved feature curtain walling to the
main entrance was integrated with Kingspan panels, powder coated in Moorland
Green to comply with local planning requirements.
Included in the £1 million envelope package,
the gatehouse, tyre store, hazardous chemicals facility and canopy to
the loading bays were all clad in single skin profiled sheet finished
in Moorland Green.
Inherent Strength - Peace Of Mind
Keyclad has the support of Bowmer & Kirkland,
one of the largest privately owned independant construction comapnies
in the UK. As a member of the group, Keyclad can call on its team of advisors
and consultants to monitor continually all aspects of safety and performance.
Unannounced site visits are undertaken as a matter of course to ensure
CDM and current Health and Safety legislation is adhered to, and the completed
works are fully validated by an independently appointed facade consultant.
One of the most technically demanding projects
undertaken by Keyclad, the Manchester Aquatics Centre incorporates over
9,000 square metres of curved standing seam roof, installed with specially
designed access rigging. To combat condensation and noise within the hostile
environment of the commonwealth Games swimming pool, the roof was lined
with a perforated, acoustic, fully welded vapour system.
Keyclad were involved at an early stage with project architects Faulkner
Browns, to develop and finalise the detail of the design criteria.
A Complete Package
Whether the requirement is for new-build or refurbishment,
standing seam roof, structural glazing or an integrated envelope solution,
Keyclad can provide the experience, professionalism and quality of service
to ensure thae project will meet the most demanding standards.
This prestigious office development for Prologis,
demonstrates Keyclads ability to provide the total envelope package including
secondary steelwork; engineered to tolerances suitable for direct fixing
of flat composite wall panels.
In addition to installing over 1,900 square metres of Keybemo curved standing
seam roof, 3mm aluminium bullnoses, curved fascias and soffits, Keyclad's
package includes flat composite wall panels to feature areas, curtain
walling, windows and glazed firescreens internally.
